Edna-isms, Part Eleven

More and more sayings.

1.  "Standing here flat footed."  Hmm.  How to describe this.  "I'm just standing here flat footed trying to peel all these peaches."  Or, "I've just been standing here flat footed doing [X]."  This implied some dedication to a task and implied she'd been standing there a while.

2.  "Here's mud in your eye!"  and "Here's looking up your old address!"  Two drinking "cheers" that she might say occasionally as one would use, "Well, here goes!"

3.  "Raising a hue and a cry."  The Free Dictionary has the saying, "Raising a hue and cry" rather than "a cry" but Mom always had the "a" in there.  This means to alert people to a problem or a difficulty.  Mom would also use it to refer to someone how had thrown a fit about something.
