Spider Fest

OK, any of you who have already seen these on my Facebook post, ignore them.  I think the spider hair clips or lapel clips are so D.A.R.N. cute that I need to post the pictures here, too.

Here are some of the beaded spiders we made at Young Women yesterday evening.  I made the green and black one, third from the left on the top row.  The girls made all the rest that you will see here.

Here is KS's cute spider.  I like how long the legs are on this spider!

Here is KH's spider.  I love that sparkly jeweled rear end!

These were made by two sisters, BG and MG.  They made the first one for their mother who is my 2nd counselor.  I love it--school colors! The pink one is very pretty and the green one looks a bit like mine, huh?

This one my daughter L made.  I like the pearl-look of it.

I haven't been more excited about a YW activity ever.  I love creating things.

Here is a YouTube tutorial about making spider hair clips.  This would be a fun project anytime but particularly as Halloween approaches.

I just noticed that these particular spiders on YouTube don't have a bead for a head.  Perhaps you could go to about.com and see written instructions about making beaded spiders and between the two of them come up with an idea of how to do it.

TTFN!

Today's post

This is my life.
Not anything as glamorous as a real treadmill and real weight loss.
Just constant movement all the time, with no off switch.
Cheerio.

My home away from home

Here is my home away from home.
I am trying to spend four to five hours every week day dejunking and sorting at my mother's place.
It doesn't always work to hit that goal but I still strive for that.
Somehow I saved the most difficult area until last, and these pictures show the room AFTER hours and hours of sorting.  (Acutally, I've made progress since this picture was taken but I am not finished yet.)
Wednesday last, somthing out of the ordinary happened . . . the bomb squad came to remove ancient blasting caps from this room--from this very table--and to search for other explosive material.  Who knew I could have been blown to Kingdom Come by just sorting through things?!
Nothing else was found but it did add a bit of counterpoint to my paper shuffling.
The drawers and shelves are empty,
except the one display-type shelf and the book shelves that you see in this photo.
As I mentioned in "posts past," I have come across literally hundreds of letters.  Come to think of it, I would not be exaggerating to say a thousand instead of "hundreds" just for this room but particularly if we count the dozen years of junk mail my sister and I have already dealt with elsewhere in the house, I could probably say "thousands."
Once I reached maximum capacity in the room in the first picture, I had to set up other staging areas around the house to deal with specific topics.  Here is, for want of a better phrase, the trash storage site.  These are the things on the way to the bin.  There has been more added since this picture was taken.
Bags of trash have been removed, and some of these are shown here.  There are double that number of trash bags now but I am not throwing them away until I know I am finished.  I have already sorted through them once and may have to sort through them again.
This is another hub of operations where I have spent hours and hours.  Ah, that paper, and in this photo you see only a tiny fraction of what has gone through my hands.
Wait, I have said the truth and not said the truth.  Yes, we have saved the hardest until last, but the hardest part is not the room with the blasting caps.  No, it is above.  Ah yes. I momentarily forgot about that.
