Another pair of pajama pants

Here's another pair of pajama pants that we made for one of L's friends.  TG's birthday party was yesterday.

For the last three pairs of pajama pants (this one and the previous post of the other two), I was modifying the original pattern.  On the other two, I put in the elastic for the waist band and affixed the ribbons.  On this pair, I put the elastic between the two ribbons.  I think both methods work fine.  This is just a variation on a variation.  On all three pairs, we used quilt binding as ribbon since it seemed to be more durable than actual ribbon.

I think I'm going to encourage L to go back to her original idea of her making pillow cases for her friends' birthdays this year!  HA!

New Testament

Just five minutes ago, I completed my goal of listening to the New Testament!  I thought, "Hey!  I did it!  Who can I tell!"  :0)  So I thought I would blog about it!

At church, the bishop had challenged us to read the New Testament in 100 days starting January 1, 2011.  I started late (of course) and that 100 days came and went with me about mid-way through the New Testament.  However, on my own schedule, I did complete it (albeit listening not reading) within 100 days.

Last year, for the LV Stake challenge of reading the Book of Mormon in 100 days, I listened to some of it and felt that I was "hearing" it and understanding it in a new way from my times of reading and re-reading it.

So when the challenge came to read the New Testament, I decided I would "hear" it.  Probably my predominant thought from my listening to the New Testament has been to reflect time and again on the centuries of confusion the New Testament has caused.  It is not hard to see why.   At the same time, I also enjoyed hearing many, many familiar verses being "read to me."

Now, I think I am going to try tackling the Old Testament by listening to it, too.  I have only read it cover to cover once.  Whew.  It is a fairly ponderous tome.  No guarantees on any "100 days" but we'll see how things go.  I decided that if I wrote about that goal on this blog, it would commit me to do it.  :o)

Here is the link for the Bible and LDS scriptures I have been using:   http://lds.org/scriptures?lang=eng.  Maybe you will join me in the volume of your choice?

Pajama pants

Back when I started my blog, I had planned that my blog would mainly be for posting pictures of my creative projects.  So this post is a nod back to that original and unrealistic goal.

L had two friends having birthday parties, one yesterday and one today.  She decided she wanted us to make pajama pants for each of them, but she wanted to modify the pjs from my regular pattern.  Here are our two pjs, created according to L's brain storm.

This was the pair for M.M.

This is the pair today for LS.

Piano and Cats

J and L had a piano recital last week and I felt good about both performances.  I was proud of them.

This was before the event started but you see there were mixed reviews from the participants!

T has a stage tech class at school and, for the class, he helped build the set for the high school theater production of "Cats."  This is a picture of the set after the production.

We went for FHE on Monday night.  Here T was after the show (second from left).

Snow in April?

Yep, we have snow in April!  And it's not April Fool's Day!  Here are some shots from our yard.
