On to another set of twenty-five

25th Whismical Birthday Cake

Even though this cake is for a twenty-fifth birthday (that's not a double scroll or a double curlycue on the top layer--that's a pink "25"), it is kind of fitting since I've lived two sets of those years already and now, as of today, I'm on to my third set.

The last set of twenty-five has been really very full of a lot of things.  The beginning of this last set of twenty-five found me on my LDS mission, which was a transforming period of time for me in many ways.  Then came law school and work at the law firm, which were also pivotal for me.  Nearly twenty of the past set of twenty-five have been married years.  Nearly eighteen of the past set of twenty-five have been motherhood years. My father passed away seventeen years ago.  We have spent sixteen of the last set of twenty-five living in the Tri-cities.  At least thirteen, if not more, of the last set of twenty-five were caught up with my mother and her plight of dementia.  This past year has been a real capper for the ending of my second set of twenty-five, with my mother's decline and death.

Now, I can barely get my head around my age, let alone contemplate what the next set of twenty-five might hold in store.  Abraham Lincoln said that the best thing about the future is that we live it one day at a time. I have to agree with him.  So here's to the good things ahead in the next set of twenty-five and may there be many, many good things.

P.S. This cake picture is an image off the Internet!  I just made my own birthday cake which looks nothing like this but maybe I'll post the yummy recipe another day!

Did you make this amazing cake? Whom is it for? It's quite lovely in any case. I loved reading about the last 25 years of your life. Thanks for sharing.

What a journey--I hope the next 25 years are easier than the last 25 years. Hope you had a nice birthday!
