Writer's block . . .

I've been wanting to write something on my blog and, despite a sheet of journal prompts sitting right here, I cannot think of anything I want to write.  I've been listening to the Old Testament and thought I would use some phrases I've picked up there to explain my current predicament.

When I sat down to blog, I felt that my post "must be exceeding magnifical [1 Chronicles 22:5]."
"How often does something magnifical happen in the tri-cities, let alone to me?" I wondered to myself.
"Then I consulted with myself . . . [Nehemiah 5:7]" and realized that I had nothing magnifical to say.  Then my ideas for posts, exactly like Jehoram, King of Judah, "departed without being desired [2 Chronicles 1:20]."

4 Packet Roast

Here is another stab at being a domestic blogger.  I came across a roast recipe at www.sisterscafe.blogspot.com that is delicious.  I made it this week and liked it so well that I forgot to take pictures!
Here it is:

4 Packet Roast
1 packet ranch dressing mix
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 packet Italian salad dressing mix
1 packet onion soup mix
1 roast of choice
1/2 to 3/4 cup of water
Assorted veggies, if desired [I used carrots pretty much whole and some onion slices]
Place roast in crock pot.  Arrange vegetables around the roast.  Sprinkle the mix packets over the roast.  Pour water around the roast.  Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

This was so easy and good that I wanted to pass it along.

Please see this advisory note about some tips on using this recipe.  Enjoy!

The problem with food

Yesterday, I randomly leafed through one of J's scrapbooks.
It  happened to be for the year 2000.
Not. So. Long. Ago. Or was it?
Here are the three musketeers who used to live and play at this house just over a decade ago,
but who are no longer here.

The fairy princess is gainfully employed for the summer and has just two years of high school to go.
We plan to get her driver's license today.
Tigger is four years away from "bouncing" out of high school, and that will seem to happen tomorrow.
He's wishing he had a job and is counting the months until he can get his permit and then his driver's license.
The fireman is all finished with high school now and, other than his father, this guy is the tallest one in the house.
I know where the time went.
What I want to know is where did these three little ones go?
I've decided the problem is in feeding them.
You feed them and they just grow up.
